Our Story: From the Camera Lens to Rebuilding Homes

We are a team of filmmakers who arrived in the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions immediately after their liberation. We came to document history through our lenses, but we ended up leaving a piece of our hearts behind.

Throughout our filming, we returned to these villages time and again. The people we interviewed became like family to us. We were struck by their incredible resilience: they returned to completely destroyed villages because their bond with their native steppes and fields proved stronger than fear or destruction.

The film has been completed, but our journey continues. We realized we couldn’t simply walk away. We transformed our creative expedition into a volunteer mission. Today, our goal is not only to record history but to help people rebuild their homes—bringing life back to where it almost stood still.

"Step by Step"

For us, this project is not about construction; it is about every child's right to dream. Today, in our district, not a single school or kindergarten remains intact. Instead of face-to-face interaction with friends, children spend lonely hours in front of phone screens for remote learning.

We see how much these children lack simple human warmth and a place where they can just be children again. That is why we are creating "Step by Step" — a cozy educational and cultural hub in the heart of the community.

What we are building together:

A Space for Connection and Discovery: We want this place to echo with children's laughter once again. We are organizing movie screenings, English lessons, art classes, and first steps into the world of digital technology.
A Place of Support and Growth: Here, every child will be heard. The center will host specialists to help cope with stress, as well as speech therapists for the youngest. Our small library will become a sanctuary where the heroes of favorite books come to life.

This is our collective step toward ensuring that life in de-occupied villages doesn't just endure, but flourishes. Because where there are happy children, there is a future for the entire community.

Our Impact: What We Have Achieved

Since the liberation of the territories in the fall of 2022, the "Women's Forum" has been working continuously in the Velyka Oleksandrivka and Berezneguvate communities.

Housing Restoration: We have helped partially or fully restore 30 homes in the villages of Kostromka, Bilohirka, Davydiv Brid, and Bila Krynytsia.
Targeted Assistance: We maintain constant contact with local residents and community leaders (starostas). This allows us to promptly deliver the specific construction materials and essential items needed at any given moment.
Our Priority: We focus our support on families with children, the elderly, and the families of veterans.
